Misused And Abused Writers Forum What makes a poet...

People offten tell me that i am a poet...my question is "what makes a poet"? is a poet simply one who engages in poetry? or is it deeper than that? can it be that people use the term lightly that it has lost its sole meaning? or maybe i am being too uptight about this. whatever the case, i feel that i have yet to reach the level of a true poet. so if anyone knows the answer...enlighten me please
