Favourite Poets?

My personal favourites are T.S. Eliot and W.B. Yeats. Eliot's style is fantastically original and a staple example of modernism. His observations on modern society and people are very profound, especially in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock and Four Quartets.
Yeats' language and imagery are nothing less than beautiful. They also hold a leading commentary on Irish culture, a great interest of mine, in the early 20th century. See September 1913 and Easter 1916.

I'd love to hear who inspires you and why...

Great choices really, I can't say that I could name many that could stand against such greats.  A couple of older favorites would be Blow, Bugle, Blow and The Lotos-Eaters both by Lord Alfred Tennyson. They contain some great sights and sounds that would be rare if not lost today.
