[no subject]15 Years AgoIDk I used to like twilight alot but know its like really overated now. I was into twilight about a year before the frenzy and I really liked the book. Bu then the movie was coming out and every girl was hanging over Edward or comparing their boyfriends to him!And everyone in class was reading it so they would know what would happening in the movie... Twilight brings fan frenzy to a whole new level...

[no subject]15 Years AgoI like twilight because since I was a kid, I was fascinated by Vampires or anything related
And I have read the series as well .. So when the movie was made, I was like - 'Oh my God!! I must REALLY watch that!' // And i just did not go to the cinema, but bought the movie as well on DVD ... I do not like Twilight because of the actors ... But i like it because it is a good story |

[no subject]15 Years AgoI like Twilight because...
1. It is an easy read. 2. I can relate to and/or enjoy certain elements the story. Let me elaborate on that one. a. I'm very clumsy and I am not exaggerating when I say that, just yesterday I was standing in kmart when I fell backwards...luckily there was a shelf behind me. Oh, also when I was in middle school I fell down the stairs once each school year. (Sigh...) b. People could argue that Edward is abusive because he's very protective or controlling of Bella. I've been in too many relationships where my boyfriends really didn't give a crap about what my favorite color was, how my day went, or whatever. At least Edward asks and cares. c. It would also be nice to be stood up for as he does for Bella as well. I'm not asking for a guy to get beat up for me, I'm just saying if they're in a situation where they can defend me (like if the friends are talking bad about me and their reasons for doing so are unfounded) then it would be nice. d. I use the word ostentatious (and various other words for that matter) in casual conversation when it is appropriate. (Someone on xanga.com said that regular seventeen year olds never use that word but I beg to differ, I've been using that word for years, thank you very much.) 3. References to awesome things like Jane Austen and Debussy. I'm hoping it'll get more people [my age] to listen to classical music and read the classics, or you know, read at all. 4. I didn't really enjoy my time in high school. It was a combination of both my teachers and my peers. In a sense I'm living my teenage years vicariously through this book. (This also applies to Harry Potter and basically any other book that was published within the last 10 years and takes place in a school at one point or another.) 5. Um, I like the cover. No seriously. That was what attracted me to the book to begin with: the color scheme, the typography, but most of all....the apple. Um, long story short when I first started attending my current college my first graphic design project was of an apple. My prof. was the director of the art department and a real hardass. We clashed a lot because I didn't agree with his teaching methods. However at the end of the semester he sent a letter out to all of my classmates praising my artwork and saying that in the short period we worked with him, I was the most improved in the class. I received many e-mails congratulating me and saying that the apple must have been lucky. I've since adopted it as my personal lucky charm. ;D 6. Although people argue that Bella's character isn't believeable for this or that reason, I have to say that her character reminds me of a lot of my friends: they're dependent, hopeless, fall in love too easily, slow, kind of stupid...this list could go on. Seeing this kind of character in print is actually stress relieving for me. Honestly, I really do think Stephenie Meyer gave it her best try when she wrote Twilight. Sure, it's not the peak of literary genius but that's okay--what's really important is that she got people to read. The Twilight hype will go away on it's own eventually, just like it did with LOTR and HP. We just kind of have to wait it out. :) |

[no subject]15 Years AgoI have some for and against reasons, because I stand on that neutral line right between the Rabid Haters and Rabid Fans.
Here are the For Reasons: 1. It's a page turner. I want to see what happens next. 2. [For the last book only] I really liked this idea of a half-vampire. [but not bella x edward, that was odd to read about.] That's it. :3 you can read the other thread for my negative reasons. @Hayame; Sorry... lol Lord of the Rings, and it's series, and prequels... it isn't a fad, it's literature. Notice it was published several decades ago. Notice how a lot of kids don't read it because "It's too hard." It can't be a fad if a lot of kids don't read it (: And to this day; it's still very popular, and a very intelligent and creative book to read. |

[no subject]15 Years AgoId like to add to the whole Lord of the rings Harry Potter fad thing going away. 1. LOTR is still very popular (amoung the kids who read it) My finaice was going to buy me an engagement ring that was straight out of LOTR lol. I loved it. 2. Harry Potter hasnt faded. The movies are still coming out and it hasnt faded its jsut people stop talking about it since the books are over ten years old lol. People are still very loyal fan to HP (im one of them <3) im not mad i just thought id bring that up lol <3 |

The Twilight hype will go away on it's own eventually, just like it did with LOTR and HP. We just kind of have to wait it out. :) a. lol That is awfully klutzy. b. Don't listen to people on the internet, let alone take their judgment into account for...... anything. I know that's much easier said than done, but I'm made fun of all the time by completely illiterate bafoons (sp?). "wtf y u like dragonns smuch u use it 4 ur avvy?" lolwhat? If you're a literate person, good for you! That $5000 a year for your high school education is going to a cause! Still, though, there's a difference from being a literate, cultured mind and being Bella. Bella is ..... lame. An intellectual would be reading books and studying the world. She proves significant ignorance throughout the book (see post in "Anti-Twilight") so while she tries to use long, fancy words to make herself look intelligent, she actively proves the opposite. In the end, mountain lions are an endangered species. c. Your read Jane Austen too? It was Shannon Hales "Austenland" that got me into her Pride and Prejudice and such works, actually. I think all romantic girls with a decent IQ will stumble upon it without help, though. d. How nice that you have such a positive reference to apples =D |

DEVIL WORSHIP AND EVILLLS!" but because of the pure anti-American message in J. K. Rowling's books throughout the series and her boycott of American actors in the production of the films, even though she damned well knew that the United States was her prime fan and customer base. The idea of an American youth playing her movie repulsed her more than a boy who actively purchased and snorted cocaine and grew marijuana in his house. (Don't know who I'm referring to? You'll notice his absence in the upcoming moveis, if you watch it, or if Great Britain actually does something about it.) |

[no subject]15 Years AgoI think this is a very broad subject that should not have been brought up. The Twilight series to me is amazing. I have read Twilight maybe six times....?
Pshh on the haters. Sure some fans have went a bit over board with the 'Twilight is my bible' thing. I hate that and think it is way over the top. |

I have read Twilight maybe six times....? Pshh on the haters. Sure some fans have went a bit over board with the 'Twilight is my bible' thing. I hate that and think it is way over the top. There were reasons I brought it up, mainly because of the broad fanbase. I'm glad someone came out and said they loved it. Clearly you enjoyed it. You read it six times. So tell us why you liked it. What did you see? What separated Twilight from the other books out there? What made you read it six times? What makes it a broad subject? "Search your feelings" and tell us everything you liked about the book. I don't say this for mean reasons. If it's this popular, there must be something about it that all of the writers can learn from. We have to help each other out. Point out what Meyer did that made Twilight so fascinating in your opinion. "Amazing" is not a reason. It's simply a vague adjective. Let's have some heart! And damn it all, if someone makes fun of you, I'll defend you. No one dares mess with Lady Aerith. |

And yes I know who your referring to lol. |

Throughout the books, Rowling makes references to China, Russia, Brazil . . . as if shoving in our faces "well everyone but the United States of America" but without having to say it, and in the cruel manner of passive aggressiveness. Grrrrrr to passive aggressiveness! |

(just to be the devils avicate...) That's more antagonizing than advocating. Prowling the pro-twilight board to start arguments is hardly civil. Haven't I made our little home cozy enough? If she wants to revel in the bliss of this story, by God, let her. She interpreted it a way we didn't. For better or for worse, it is done. No warfare between the pros and antis. Seriously. This wasn't started to instigate bickering over a book. We're above that! This is supposed to be a learning experiment (though thus far it's not doing well, as everyone's answers are quite vague.) Instead, how is it sweet and romantic? What did you learn of vampires? Was it the different cultural interpretations? Is it that Meyer had a different portrayal of a creature that was so deeply branded in our minds, or is it the new creature she created? |

Instead of critizing everything i say why dont you just reply to the original message. Im not starting any fights here I was just making comments and trying to make her more specific. If she has a problem with it, she can take it up with me. thank you |

[no subject]15 Years AgoTbh I only read about a quarter of the book, couldn't make it past that as it was driving me nuts. What pissed me off was:
1. The writing was really simple as if the author didn't have that much talent 2. Bella is a weakling and Edward has to save her a*s every time -_- 3. Vampires glittering ftw =p. Really followed vampire legends etc ^^ Even though I don't like it, Kudos to the author for getting alot of fans for her books =p |

[no subject]15 Years AgoFor everyone's information, Taylor is the only person allowed to be mean to the people who post here. Thank-you.
