Write like the Pope

Alexander Pope wrote a mock epic, Rape of the Lock. The poem was written in heroic couplets, the same style he used, and other poets of the time, to imitate Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. The Rape is humorous because it is about a rather trivial event. A man, who requested of Pope to write the poem, stole a lock of hair from the woman he loved. She was quite upset about it. The request for the poem was to mend the relationship. I don't know how the relationship turned out, but the poem is fantastic.

Write something grand about a small event. I would say make it an heroic epic, but I'm not going to suggest writing pages on the subject -- that would take more than a week, and epics generally aren't published. And I'm not suggesting you use heroic couplets, though you could if you would like. But write in terms of something really eventful, a life-changing event as they say, but that the reader finds is something quaint.

I'm glad I read this for clarification.  For a moment, I thought you asking for a papal bull or an encyclical, and my Italian and German are both pretty spotty.

Well, I sort of thought you meant the ecclesiastical pope, too. Either way it's a challenge. I'll think on it a day or two.
