What kind of things keep your inspiration going?

Hey, so was just wondering what kinds of things inspire other writers stories. For instance, my book is a fantasy, that looks to be in the genre of Teen. What originally inspired my main character was my ex-wife (awkward…). I wanted to write a story for her back when we were dating. She liked fantasy and so i asked her if i were to make her a character, what would she want to be. She couldn’t decide to be an Elf or Fairy, so I made her both…then came the concept of a mix-breed, then the idea of them being illegal and then BOOM i was writing. She also has a set of freckles on her arm and leg that are exactly in the isosceles triangle formation, that too ended up in the story. But I also get a lot of inspiration for TV, Movies, Video Games, and so on. I like having Ancient Aliens, UFO, or some Egypt or Greek mythology show on in the back ground when i write, it helps for some reason. Anyway, sorry for the rambling, so what thing inspires you guys, or keeps your writing going?
