Not wanting the child he had raised as his own to be defenseless at close range, the elf trained Ven in handling a knife and hand to hand combat. One day when the man Ventus now called father left, he never came back, leaving him all alone. Centuries passed by, and Ventus grew up. A tall young man was crouched in the trees. His focus on a buck that had stopped to take a drink from a nearby stream. His sapphire blues eyes narrowed in concentration; his, slightly long, shaggy blond spikes waved in the gentle wind. The grey feather of the arrow lightly tickled his cheek. The deer rose it's head, and the boy let the arrow fly forth with the fury of a God in response.

The boy carried the deer over his shoulders. His dull red shirt hiding the blood stains from the buck. His home in sight, the blond took the dead animal to the smoke shack to skin, and gut it.

Once he was done he cleaned off his hands in the creek by his cottage. He jerked a bit a the frigid temperature. Bearing with it, he cleansed his arms of gore. Standing up he went back inside.

His house was small, but fitting. He had his bed, a small dresser of clothes, a stone fire place he used to cook with, a table for his meals, and a chest to hold his precious items.

Feeling nostalgic he opened the chest, and rummaged through the contents. Maps of places far from here, a bag enchanted to hold more than it seemed, a belt studded with various gems, a royal purple pouch, and a small notebook.

Smiling the blond boy flipped through the pages. It had been his father's and now it was his. Closing his cobalt orbs, he reverently placed the items back as they were, and shut the lid.

Hearing a rocking noise, the boy scrambled over to the table filling to the brim with curiosity. On his unremarkable table, was a very remarkable object. It was oval shaped, but almost as large as his head. It was absolutely breathtaking though. It was a pure ivory, marbled and swirled with dark ebony. It was truly beautiful, but he had no idea what "it" was. He had had it in his possession for sometime now. It was still as mysterious as it was when he first found it though. He knew next to nothing about it. Only that it'd sometimes shake itself, like now. This time was different however. It was moving more than he ever remembered seeing before. Usually it'd only give a slight tremble or two, but now it was outright shaking.

He ducked under the table as a part cracked. He cautiously peeked his head up from under it, and watched, fascinated, as slowly the crack grew, and spider webbed over the egg. Small chips fell off where the cracks met.

Suddenly, it stopped all movement. Fully coming out from under the table, the boy wasn't prepared for the explosion off marbled shell, and bright light.

Blinking away spots, he looked on, baffled by what now occupied his table. A small hangouts creature. With a knobby head, awkward limbs, wings covered in egg goop, he only knew one thing that it could be.

 A dragon.
