If I Die Young

If I Die Young

A Poem by ~ Czarina Iris ~
"

Kiss each of my eyes and tell me goodbye in a whisper so soft I could not hear you cry

"

If I die young

afraid and alone

With a cry of fear

And an anguished moan,

Close my eyes softly

So I seem to sleep,

And promise me that

You will not weep.

If I die young

In the depths of my dreams,

In the dark of the night,

Not a star that gleams,

Kiss each of my eyes

And tell me goodbye

In a whisper so soft

I could not hear you cry.

If I die young

And never see

You're beautiful eyes

Smiling down at me,

Know that I loved you

With all of my heart,

And that it was my wish

We'd  never be apart

But

If I die

Wrapped in your arms

With a smile on my face,

Safe from all harms,

Then I died happy

Because I was with you

In the moments before

My young spirit flew.
