A shell

A shell

A Poem by Ashley.M.E

Sometimes you just stare at nothing

Waiting for something to look back

but glad that nothing ever does

Enjoying the silence of yourself

Wishing you had company

Yet you never really well

You try to look past these things

the ones that make you human

but you can't move on

After all

What are you without these memories?

What are you without this mind?

This soul?

This body?

Once you leave it behind

All that is left is a shell

Sometimes you just have to cry

Waiting for something to end it all

but glad to see another day

Enjoying the sounds of the world

Wishing you were alone

Yet you really could be

You try to see what the future holds

the ones that make you push forward

But you can't push forward

After all

What are you without these thoughts?

What are you without your dreams?

This soul?

This body?

What will you leave behind?

Don't let it be just a shell
