The Joys Of Spring

The Joys Of Spring

A Poem by Dana
"

Here's my first poem! Tell me what you think!

"

In a faraway land the sun used to shine
The painted flowers that once lived are now dead
The seasons change- they don’t wait
I blew the dandelion and the pieces that once fit together are now gone

Life is as thin as a match
You can light it up and illuminate the room
Or you could break it without intention

Is it possible to pass a test you did not prepare for?
The map directs me to the right, but why do I go left?
My journey is filled with stop signs but why can’t I stop?

My words speak, but no one hears,
My sight’s clear but why can’t I see?
Your light differs from mine
Is pretending considered a lie?

Autumn steals the leaves I hide behind,
Winter freezes my broken heart,
Surprisingly spring returns my joy,

In my stomach, beautiful butterflies flutter and float,

They threaten to overwhelm me,
Why does wrongness have to be so right?

Do you remember the memories we shared?
In that land that seems so far away,
I know that summer must come,
I just want you to stay…
