The Looking Glass

The Looking Glass

A Poem by Jazmine Knight

Why are there mirrors

In a place so dark and cold

I don't need to see

All of this moss and mold

I know what I look like

No need to remind me

This world around

Is a depressing sight to see

Why are mirrors needed

In a world so cruel and dark

I don't need one to see

This black, dark park

No color was on the brush

When this scene was painted

Only pen and pencil

Now my entire life is tainted

I know where I am standing

And I know I belong

Though I don't want to

No need to prolong

What is it like

Through this gateway or looking glass

It can't be worse

If only they would let me pass
