The Other Side

The Other Side

A Poem by 1turkiegirl
"

Loss of mother as a teen

"

Standing at the edge of the sea
The raging storm is calling me.

Nothing can be deeper than this pain
How can I  keep from going insane?

The water dances-- no burdens to bare
Drawing me closer to cleansing my cares.

As I stare at the waves where they break
How long under will it take?

I sigh as the load is lifted away
Relief is my feeling-- a glorious day!

As I plunge into the water's deep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

I'm carried  now by the prince of tides...
To meet my mother on the shore of the other side.

Do you see two possible endings? One obvious. One through language & reference & shift in mood.

Escaping pain is always optional. How we choose to relieve ourselves of the pain is what matters. Keep on writing! No greater escape!!!
