This Formidable Haze

This Formidable Haze

A Poem by Stacy Purvis

This formidable haze

Lost time and distant gaze

So much time has passed

Since I’ve seen you last.

Regrets turn to tears

All the broken years

Wish you could’ve stayed

Fear is the price we paid.

I’m confused, torn in two

One half hating

One half loving you

Not knowing what to do

Memory- I can’t seem to leave

Because I want to believe

That what I felt was real

Desires and passions I feel

Sadness overwhelms me

Grief overcomes me

Looking for an answer

Love becomes a cancer

Days pass by, still no word

Shadows darken, silence heard

A poisoned flock of memories

Blending visions of histories

Annihilate a sacred hate

Dispose of an inquisition

This is how we spend our days

In this formidable haze.

Lost loves can be a difficult thing to deal with...one deals with the confusion of emotions...the inner turmoil...the other has no input, no word...given time things should change, but that change has not happened yet and the anger and angst are both present.

third line - time was repeated

A good write, Stacy

Wow! Nice job, Stacy. Your pain, confusion and angst come across loud and clear in this hard-hitting poem. It is sad that something so informative and beautiful should be born from your distress, but that is so often the way. Funny old world, isn't it? :)

A haze, the beauty and ugliness of love
This measured haze in every direction
Lacking clarity the heart grows weary

Its this wisdom behind being in love

To wander

Nicely done

I do understand this poem.
"One half hating
One half loving you
Not knowing what to do"
The above lines. We shall know often. Thank you Stacy for sharing the excellent poetry.

formidable indeed! i feel this one .. pain is a Master Instructor ... one must wade through or drown :( very emotive .. honest expressions .. the rhyming for me has both strengths and weaknesses .. and those lines that are not rhymed causes me to stumble a bit ... just me i suppose ... this could have been written in couplets but you surprise me connecting lines in one continuous flow .. i think the story telling and imaging are powerful .. i am drawn in and held by the universality of suffering and striving to figure things out .. love cuts deep and sharp ... i think repeating the title in closing works well in this ... leaves me with a clear impression of "..haze" ;))))))
