Just one second...

The silence between us 

Is pure bliss

But causes me more pain

Than you’ll ever know

I know I’m nothing more 

Than a thought that passes through your head

When every other thought has left

So that’s what I tried to make you

But it never worked

Breaking the silence would only make everything worse

But staying silent is worse for me

You only hear words I say

I only hear thoughts you don’t have about me

The good and the bad

I take a moment of weakness

And allow my mind to drift

To picture you walking in a forest

Noticing a flower

And thinking of how I remind you of that flower

And that branch, and that rock

I simply want my name to cross your mind

If even for a second

And think only good of me

I know I deserve better

I know that you cannot offer me what I need

Give me a second of your mind

And I’ll leave your life for good
