This is How I Know

This is How I Know

A Poem by louanimal

When thoughts tip-toe,
leap,
tango
in an ever-continuing fashion
like the second hand on your grandpa's favorite watch;
the whole time eyes crinkled
with a smile from there to Texas.

When running around endlessly can't use up
all the damn energy a pounding heart creates
 (Can it be saved in pickle jars like pennies or buttons?)
and the dog knows you've gone insane.

When words spill hopelessly all over his new shoes
But the infamous trio can't hopscotch across your tastebuds yet
even though
this is how I know
