Joined once again

 Here I sit by growing grass still trying to hide what lay beneath

   Tears blind me from seeing but sight is not what i want

     Pain appears to have taken hold of my aching heart as i stare at the ground

      Wetness trails down my wrinkled face showing the world my hurt

        Aged hands are folded neatly on my lap that is holding a single rose

          A simple thing it must be but it holds so many memories

            Of better times that have past when love was in full bloom

              Broken hearts being repaired and tender kisses passed secretly in the night

               So silly things had seemed back then when we had been so young

                Hopes and dreams our only concerns that we gave heed

                 Now it seems we should have considered the other things

                   Time has ran out and here i sit next to you but the farthest i have ever been

                     Noises from behind me have me lifting my heavy head

                       So tall and grown they now are and a smile lifts my lips

                         At least one thing we had done right in our lives together

                            May not have been the easiest thing to do but my love had always welcomed a challenge

                              Tears run down their faces as well because they knew him too

                                Strong and sure he had been and always knew what to say

                                  So here we sit in the mornings silence with memories to pass the time

Strong hands encircle mine with warmth and comfort

 Lonely for so long and but i never thought for a moment you wouldn't return

You smile at me as i look up at you with a smile in return

Love shines brightly in your eyes with a hint humor that always made me laugh 

The kindness you never cease to give show in the way you kiss me on my head

Too long we have been apart and finally we are joined once again
