Like Mike Tyson

It's about taking life's punches

Life likes to use me as a punching bag

Usually takes a jab here and there

Once I was caught off guard

Life threw a mean uppercut,

Several punches to my face

And BOOM! I was knocked down

My soul took a hard pounding

It is still taking punches

The left hook, right hook, uppercuts

One after another after another

Knockdown after knockdown

Breakdown after breakdown

Sweats, blood, tears

If I could, I would bite the ear of life

So many times to throw in the towel

But like Mike Tyson

I keep on fighting

He was not called

'Iron Mike' for nothing

Author's Note

An idea that came into my head. Mike Tyson may have lost his tracks years ago with all his mistakes but (just my opinion) one of the biggest mistakes anyone can make is not trying. Based on what I saw from the media and read from the papers, he is trying to be a better person. He is still my favorite fighter of all time.

Growing up in the "Mike Tyson Era," I totally get this poem. He actually use to train in the area where I'm from. He definitely didn't have easy, and it translated to the ring. There may never be a more dominate boxer. He owned the ring, didn't know fear, and was a terror to other boxers. I really like the poem, and how you related it to yourself. Great job.

Thank you Francis. I believe when his coach, D'Amato died, part of him died with him and so began series of troubles for him. You are right, he was a dominant boxer.
