Or how I feel

I sure as hell know

That you know how to steal

Every speck of light in me

And drown me in your dark

You ignite me

With little sparks

To give me some hope

To see the light again

I just hold my breath

And count to ten

I don’t know

If I’ll reach the surface

Got me swimming in circles

I don’t know

Where I’m going

I don’t know

Where you are

There used to be stars

In your blue sky eyes

They’d lead me home

But now there’s only

Midnight sighs

In the backseat of long drives

I don’t know

Where my dream went

I don’t know

Where you went

I don’t know

What you meant

When you said you can’t

Can’t stop thinking about me

Because I only exist

In your darkness

I’m nothing else regardless

Of anything you say

Please just let me breathe

Just let me leave

Life is a wild journey. Hard to know where we support to be. The poem made me feel need to find proper place and be cared for. Easy to lose dreams and also easy to create new ones. I enjoyed this poem. Made me think. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
