A Poem by Abdul Batin Osman Bey
"

a short journey

"

I’ve been searching

Searching for so long

In a cold lonely winter

Only to end where I started from

Been a long while

Since I sat on the steps of seven, eight, and six

Now I feel the warmth of a smile

I’m back where I started from

The crescent moon guided me both night and day

The presence of Allah was never far away

I learned and I grew

Piecing myself together only to rediscover you

Hungry so hungry I became

Malnourished though I was full

Popped my ego

To find myself where I started from

Where did I go?

Where have I been?

A long bloodshot haze

Now I’m where I belong

The crescent moon guided me both night and day

The presence of Allah was never far away

I learned and I grew

Piecing myself together only to rediscover you
