Timbutu

Timbutu

A Chapter by Abdul Batin Osman Bey
"

a spiritual journey to the place where it all began

"

Great magnificence

Called out to me

Brought me far from home

A new place

Strange university

Endless libraries

Stored in my mind

Great teachers

Toward over all

Students hung on words

Lined up begging to be let in

Few are chosen

Changed forever

They spread the gnosis

Most unworthy

The uneducated turn

Paradise ends

Sackcloth worn

By those who knew only silk

Great magnificence

Called out to me

I learned at the feet of Negus

Born again

Like the elected Persians before me

I was permitted to learn

Now I seek the worthy

Avoiding the mistakes of the past

Timbuktu

I must thank you

Taking me in

Setting me on a journey that’ll never end
