Salvation Illness

Salvation Illness

A Chapter by Abdul Batin Osman Bey

I guess I made a mistake

Thinking all your diamonds were fake

What more should I do?

Lightning strikes twice times two

Thought I’d find Southern Comfort

All I got was Northern Hospitality

Eyes opened wide

Got no more comforts to hide

I tried to fly with clipped wings

Sadness brings sentimental nothings

No more oceans of blue

Carved out a hollow statue

Thought I’d find Southern Comfort

All I got was Northern Hospitality

Eyes opened wide

Got no more comforts to hide

You may never understand

Salvations not ours to command

Open your fists of sand

Blow it away into what’s never near

You may never be that picture

Of imaginable gold and glitter

Open up your fists of sand

Blow it away into what’s never dear

Black triangle good-bye

Open eyes too wide

Black triangle good-bye

Opened eyes too wide

Good-bye

Good-bye

Good-bye

Good-bye

Well, what comes to mind for me is immigration. As I have personal experience moving to the land of opportunities I know how warped the "Images of gold and glitter" really is. Not to say that these people are not kind, but the truth is that it is not so great.
"Open up your fists of sand" is a line that reminds me of assimilation. Basically when you come to the US you are asked and then forced to release the sands of your old country. Of course there are those that hang on, but causes friction, from what I can tell whenever anything remotely secular comes to the front door everyone is on high alert of a scam.
That's what I believe this is saying, that the grass is always greener, that you can be saved by this and that . . . At least, that is my personal interpretation.

Don't be sorry I know we all have lives outside the interwebs.
