Revolution

Revolution

A Poem by Aj Brisson
"

A poem about LGBT discrimination and the fight for equal rights.

"

In a world of fear and hate

Where citizens discriminate

Where people cry and people die

Hate filled crimes and suicides

We battle through ongoing fights

To claim our freedom,

Equal rights.

Preach the word

Our kids you’ll tell,

Their love is sin worthy of Hell

And when they lay with that sinful love

They’ll burn below, not fly above.

Ignorant and hateful prick!

Don’t try to cure us,

We’re not sick.

Too bad you’re all to blind to see that

Ignorance is the disease.

And speaking of disease, there’s AIDS;

“The Lord’s revenge upon the f**s”

No matter ill or flowing clean,

Our blood remains to be obscene.

In the schools and in the streets;

Adults and children

Bullied and beat

And you’ll fulfill your “righteous duties”

When their wrists drip with precious rubies.

Though beat us down as you may try,

Higher up our flag will fly

We march with purpose and with pride

With labels finally cast aside

Free of hateful hearts’ pollution

And thus begins the revolution.
