Prairie of Fools

Prairie of Fools

A Poem by AJNJ
"

Where Angels Dread To Tread

"

In a prairie of flaming fools

Don’t ever dream of wit

Where angels fear to tread
Reigns a constellation of twits

Be it a coterie of clowns

Or idiots rattling in cliques

No stone is left unturned
Rape of prudence to commit
In a prairie of vibrant fools

Wisdom leaves no footprints

The winds of absurdity rail
Blowing off reason, bit by bit
Don’t slip into the swamp

Preserve your path as Holy Writ

No sunborn ray can pierce

This foul, grey and murky pit

there is absolutely nothing about this entire page.. except them pesky adverts that kinda get in the way... that I do not like.. and I mean that big time.. The title is fantastic and immediately opens up the door to one's imagination.. am still working on the meaning behind those specifically bold fonted words .. have printed the whole thing to dwell further upon whilst am on the plane later today.. The language used is superb and the light rhyme that runs throughout is easy to follow... The principle message is clear .. and I so like that image you posted to head the whole thing... I would love a copy of that ancient work of art n true.... all in all.. summat rather special sir...

Interesting that I should stumble upon this one, given the RNC is probably putting on their s**t-show at this very moment. I haven't the slightest curiosity for the political conventions of either side, nor would I waste my time, becuz the masses will be fomenting on FB tomorrow & I can catch the worst in sound bytes. We all know who we're voting for & minds are not being changed at this point, which is why I find these things to be such a waste of time. I just spent the last week breathing wildfire smoke & I don't need anymore gas. Sorry for going on, your poem really sparked me. Normally I have a rant about 10-word poems (dumb) but this is a very strong message & there's no need to bold the words (distracting) since the reader doesn't care, only the writer does. (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

I love the title here, Pestonjee! A prairie is long and wide and big enough to crowd many fools in it, just like the proverbial sheep. Whatever the reason behind your poem, it's a brilliantly bold statement and again you have used your ten word challenge to produce an excellent piece of writing.

Beautifully done, what a delightful read. You didn't just cram the 10 words into some form, you made a great piece of art with them.

Thanks a ton for such great words of appreciation that just made my day!
It's a strange thing, power. It never lasts long, maybe just long enough to cause devastation to the ones in its wake. Power and contempt, amazes me they put statues up for it. Power for an hour does me, after that the neighbours b***h and I have to turn the music down.

Felt a palpable disgust in this elaborate write, articulated gracefully. Magnificent piece of work altogether, sir. So do the eleven words in bold signify something deeper?

Another ten worder and you have taken me to a place I wouldn't normally visit. The swamp, that's where many of our politicians reside in their idiocy. Give me the angels any day. Imaginative, descriptive and a reminder to stay on the straight and narrow. Great writing.

Thanks a lot Ms. Chris. The pandemic has made me see these big fools with new eyes. Many thanks!
I really like the message in this one and the poem really drives it home.
Why is it that the world is dealing with a pandemic and fools are thriving. Misleading and misguiding...

Something has aroused the speaker's ire and he is verbally breaking bad here. Some people have by their mindless ways driven him beyond the bounds of politeness. I certainly hope the guilty are not among the WC writers.
