American Djinn: Immigration DoctorA Story by Abishai100An eccentric Algerian-American immigrant named Amlan makes Internet blogs with himself posed as an 'American Djinn' (genie!) and writing about the consumerism-appeal discovered by immigrants!Amlan immigrated to New Jersey (USA) from Algeria in the 1990s and studied at an Ivy League school (Dartmouth College) where he studied political-science before beginning a Christianity-oriented online sabbatical during which he decided to post colorful Internet blogs with himself posed/dressed as a modern-day 'American Djinn' (genie!) and writing about the new age (21st Century) consumerism-appeal (e.g., capitalism daydreams) discovered and expressed by immigrants! Amlan called himself the 'Great American Djinn' and made blogs with himself looking like a genie and holding consumerism-iconic tokens and totems and toys and trophies such as Christmas Nutcracker dolls, Transformers (Hasbro) robot-toys, Tonka model-trucks, Barbie dolls, and Elmo stuffed puppets. Amlan (the Great American Djinn) wanted immigrants as well as critics of modern immigration to appreciate just why and how people who moved to America seeking the proverbial American Dream were immediately 'hypnotized' by the color and geometry of modern-day capitalism/consumerism. AMLAN: "I am the Great American Djinn. I immigrated to America from Algeria in the 1990s and studied political-science at a prestigious (Ivy League) school before converting to Christianity and beginning a politically-conscious online 'sabbatical' during which I present myself as a modern-day 'prophet' of immigration-oriented concerns as they pertain to the great American Dream. Are you Chinese? Are you Italian? Are you Polish? Do you want to come to America and go Christmas-shopping? Of course you do! Well, here in my hand (in this little photo of myself I took last night!) is a little Christmas Nutcracker doll, which many many Americans collect/buy and present/ornament during the festive and consumerism-heavy holiday season. Yes, my friends, consumerism is akin to everyday spirituality in America, so if you come here, prepare to be excited about buying Jesus Christ dolls and quilts online for Christmas for your friends and loves ones...and embracing all the pomp and purity even of that ritual we refer to generally as capitalism!" Amlan's Internet-blogs about consumerism-appeal to modern-day immigrants daydreaming about the American Dream became quite popular, and he was soon contacted by the NSA (National Security Agency) doing a sweep about cyber-security in American online networks. After all, these days, anti-capitalism terrorists liked to sweep random pedestrian/consumerism blogs and posts on the Internet which they could 'use' as fodder/fuel for their anti-American campaigns. Amlan was shocked that his presentation of the spiritual intrigue associated with consumerism confetti would be hawked by anti-capitalism terrorists and decided he'd help the NSA in any way he could. He was requested by the NSA to put an official disclaimer at the bottom on his blogs, which now read, "These consumerism-ideology pro-immigration blogs are simply personally inspired and are in no way a reference to any established or formal social group or political individual with current legal concerns." Amlan's immigration/consumerism blogs continued to be popular and got thousands and thousands...and thousands of hits (and comments!). He became an 'idiosyncratic celebrity' (if only for a short time). THE END © 2019 Abishai100 |
