Kobe's Curse

The celebrity NBA star Kobe Bryant tries to clear his name after an assault-scandal so he can prove to his fans and to his wife that he intends to deliver to America the right dose of victory.

Kobe Bryant was so frustrated after being scandalized in the press for his bizarre attempted sexual assault charge placed in court and in public by a Caucasian woman he apparently met at a hotel and wanted to court for intercourse despite his known legal status! Kobe had to apologize to his wife and fight for his name, lest he be marred in the press as a wayward criminal celebrity athlete in the USA. He appeared on TV and made statements in the media, some directly to his wife, explaining that he had no clear intention to hurt his beloved wife or endanger his marriage. Kobe also had to elucidate on his rationale for approaching the Caucasian woman at the hotel who accused him by further explaining that he was simply being 'charming' and not 'suggestive' towards her and that she may have over-reacted to his gestures of personalized humor! What would he do and who would defend him?

Kobe had become a prominent and pronounced NBA superstar, helping the Los Angeles Lakers grab multiple Championship rings in the new era of sports, the post-Celtics era! He boasted an incredible team, which included the Goliath-like Shaq and various supportive scorers and defenders, all coached by a very well-known Phil Jackson. Kobe had become a multi-million dollar media celebrity and loved professional NBA player and athlete! He even had all kinds of endorsements from various companies, making him a known TV figure. Lakers fans cherished how the Kobe-Shaq tandem in the 'new look' Lakers gave the team an explosive edge and helped them topple very gifted challengers such as the Allen Iverson marshaled Philadelphia 76ers. Now, all this glory was threatened by Kobe's terrible scandal.

Kobe decided to have a sit-down-chat with his wife and seek her counsel and spiritual support. She was still furious at him for marring their reputation in public and causing the press to make wild claims that Kobe was merely a 'juvenile celebrity playboy' who was willing to exploit his wealth and fame for unscrupulous indulgences. She was mad that Kobe made them look like a 'very average' or even 'typical' problem-child celebrity couple! Kobe confessed to his wife that she was correct about everything the scandal brought into their otherwise once idyllic life of fame and sports glory! Kobe asked his wife what she resented and regretted the most, and she confessed that prior to the sexual assault scandal in the press, she'd daydreamed that even though Kobe opted to pass on Duke University's offer to recruit Kobe as a student-athlete (missing a chance to shine on a very prestigious academic-athletic stage!), she still 'envisioned' Kobe would become a very ornamented NBA athlete-superstar...such as Dominique Wilkins.

Dominique Wilkins was known to be an excellent and prolific earlier generation scorer for the NBA team the Atlanta Hawks. In fact, Wilkins' special and unique brand of exciting play and singular athletic prowess and incredible fan-favorite 'slam dunk performances' made him and his Hawks team a very intriguing and unusual sports showcase for fans looking for something more alternative to mainstream zoning offense play. Wilkins' Hawks were arguably 'pioneers' in the progression of NBA stylistics, paving the way for future 'excitement-teams' such as Kobe's Lakers, Carmelo Anthony's Denver Nuggets, and Yao Ming's Houston Rockets! Kobe Bryant's wife daydreamed her beau Kobe would someday be hailed as the 'new-gen Dominique Wilkins.' Now, she was demoralized that Kobe's scandal could completely undo this ultimate dream.

KOBE: "I regret what this scandal has done to my reputation, my focus on teamwork and play with my beloved LA Lakers, and my personal interaction with my loving wife. I hope she will forgive me first after I clear my name and prove there was no real intention to create clear misconduct. My wife confided in me the other night that she hoped I'd someday be hailed in the press as the 'new-generation Dominique Wilkins' and I admit it was great praise! After all, the Atlanta Hawks were very hot with the awesome Dominique. However, I don't want to burn this otherwise cool dream, and I intend to use the social pulpit and the basketball court to prove myself to my fans and to my wife that the LA Lakers...and the city of Los Angeles...is a place of great and 'dioramic' dreams. I also told my wife I'd see a psychiatrist to treat my media-related claustrophobia, so I'd feel less 'natural rage' towards overly-inquisitive journalists. Maybe I'll even take some Klonopin meds...anything to become and feel more dashing again! Thanks."
