Like Morphine

Like Morphine

A Poem by Abraxasbird
"

To dream is to conjure in the lightness and emptiness of sleep, to draw closer death, knowing what isn't, but what could have been

"

The sands have begun to slip
Life has begun to spin
And I've started to lose my grip;
Along comes the dark abyss

With the the allure of night,
Pretense and alibis,
Drunken Stupors and
Swollen pride
False forgiveness and
Absent reprise

Don't breathe a word,
The silence is golden
And love is absurd;
Levee your heart as it opens,
Lets watch the world Turn,
Or depending you you girl,
Watch the world burn

With the winds in our hair,
Flames in the air,
The truth in our nightmares,
Brings the unwanted scare
That life never was fair

But with a dose of trust
Things are forgotten with lust,
Like the wanton promise of love
-Aloof and always dangerous-
Will always seem strange to us

As we dance in a reverie
To feign and faint in our memories
That tomorrow might bring
Our distant eternity

*sigh* What a beautiful poem... full of emotions and a reminiscing nostalgia... wonderful. You've penned a marvelous verse here, Tiresias.
