My Love

My Love

A Poem by Aella.lives

Yes, my sweet, I have carried a torch for you since the days of yore,

Carried it like an old valentine crushed within my jacket pocket,

Reminds me of youth.

Yes, my sweet, I have prided myself with my flattery to best you,

But those quirky lips best me every time,

And I find it charming.

Yes, my sweet, you are the apple of eyes of plenty,

But you are more than just a fruit to me,

You are life.

No, my love, I shall not fall for you,

For you have me floating,

And nigh am I to reaching you.

This is sweet, with a tad bit of quirkiness to it that makes it even more adorable and magical, loved the similes you included in this, it trademarks it as your own.

-----in your mind you create the world--- Buddha

Whatever you want is at the tips of
your fingers. Look there is your love.
Don`t know why I am giving you advice,
next time I will ask you for advice.

The last stanza left the knots of "Not" within... you can't win if you don't try - but you don't see that you still lose anyway... hard words but true.

Good write. Nice mix of 'old english' and new. Gave this a special feel. Relaying feelings that are age old and well known.

loved that second stanza...speaks to me of an intellectual love of minds like folk with similar values and interests.
I like the You are life line...as if you recognise the authentic.
and the last stanza...for me anyway seems to say you have learnt to let such things go. The wisdom of experience. Thankyou a lovely poem.
