HOMELESS

HOMELESS

A Poem by Aileen
"

TRUE STORY/POEM!

"

The worst thing that could ever happen to me was being homeless

To god I begged, for my family to bless

It was hard not having a permanent address

Day by day, I lived with the stress

For sleep and heat, I bought a car

And to go to work because it was far

I felt like I was going to die because time was hard

No one wanted to help us and treated us like lard

One night we didn’t have where to crash

So we went to this shelter where the next day I woke up with a rash

I used my money to find shelter, so it was hard to stash

It took me three months just to save enough cash

In my children’s eyes, I could see their pain

We walked many places in the snow and in the rain

I tried real hard not to go insane

Because keeping my kids dressed and fed, that goal was my main

It was a mission to find where to cook rice and meat

Things from where ever, we had to eat

Our belongings all over, we couldn’t keep neat

I had never seen my self like this in the street

We slept one night here and one night there

To beg for help, I really didn’t dare

Where we slept, no one even showed that they care

I’ll never let that happen again to my family, I swear

This is such a sad and heartbreaking poem...my heart goes out to you and your children. I am so glad you were able to overcome this peril. My son was homeless in Austin Tx for a short spell I had to send for him, it was a comfort to have him home and not having to stay in shelters and worry about food to eat. Thank you for sharing. My prayers are with you and yours. Debileah
