June

June

A Poem by Akinli Wilde

People can’t see,

the emotions inside of me.

Always avoiding, never confronting

See me cry, and walk away

Joking about me behind my back,

never thinking to come and ask.

June is the month when it started,

silent, invisible bullets coming at me.

June is the time of the broken,

the time of the sad, the lonely, the hurt.

Once there was a book I read,

where all the words went to my head.

It seemed so relevant to my life,

I couldn’t manage to pass it by.

It changed me then,

and to this day,

I never seem to walk away.

Life gets better if you try,

it’s just not visible to the eye.

Just look at me, so full of life,

compared to back when I was dread,

a person not alive nor dead.
