Parasite

Parasite

A Poem by Akshay

This disease sits, eating away.
The known faces have been cast astray.
The sky never seemed so forlorn,
Blasphemy never seemed to be this strong.

Guided painlessly to the end,
The venom inside is the only true friend.
Life breaks to form a sharp edge,
Life is insufficient, death completes the sketch.

All hopes are tormented endlessly,
All dreams are dreamt to be broken mercilessly.
Everything crumbles like the cigarette ashes,
An infernal spell cast by demonic sorceress'.

Betrayed by a sacred stone,
Clouds float astray as they moan.
With every sun, a flower breaks
Inevitably, rowing our boat on mortality's lake.

This piece was rich with imagery and metaphors. I found that it spoke to me of how Humanity is like a parasite upon the planet Earth and that at some point the Earth shall sweep us all away as it heals itself. The piece, thought flowing in a general negative tone, seemed to conjure moments of uplifting as well. Giving the piece an overall feeling of floating upon a turbulant sea.

Very nicely penned!
