My Own Skin

My Own Skin

A Poem by Akshay

Suffer through these digital thorns
Try to think of some better thoughts
But, there's no mention of a golden scene
Spent a lifetime, how much longer can I be me?

Honesty seems like an uninsured policy
Never asked for this unkind, untimely tragedy
There's no mention of a greener dream
Oh, for how long can I stay me?

Walk on a path where the dead are buried
Try to run, but the knee braces are heavy
There's no mention of someone who will edify these dreams
How much longer can I survive as me?

Past should never be allowed to stay alive
Holding its cold hand, don't think to survive
No mention of what I could have been
Not much strength, but, I hope the Sun would lend me.
