A Chapter by Alaska Rose

This was my first freestyle poem... probably ever. I was feeling very frustrated that day...

ADD

Attention Deficit Disorder

It's A Nightmare

Trying Hard but it's not enough

'Cause I can't focus on my work.

I want to excel, but it pulls me down

I want to do well, but it hinders me

I can't set my priorities straight

I can't reach my goals within a reasonable time limit

It isn't fair.

I hate it.

ADD

It hurts.

I gain weight

I'm failing

My dad's still in denial

He believes that I'm just lazy;

That I can do anything

But it's hard

I want to prove him right,

But time and again I fall

They say I have lots of potential,

But I'm just not trying hard enough.

It hurts.

It's not fair.

A powerful poem. To understand things can be a difficult road. A lot of pain and sadness in your words. Later in life we can see the mistakes made. Maybe we can do better. A strong first chapter.

This proves to be an interesting read. In a way, it carries the illusion of simplicity, but reminds me of my own life and words of my best friend. I think freestyle poems are difficult to tackle at times, but you did a fine job. Kudos!

About
Hi! I'm Alaska Rose, but am more commonly referred to as "Ala". It's not my real name, but I've answered to Ala so often online that I probably would do so in real life. Anyway, a little about me: .. more..
