The Cave

The Cave

A Poem by Alexx

Beneath the rocks and above the boiling
Center of the earth
A large cave sits, the mornings rays
Never touching her

Alone it's mouth swallows bats and
Small birds and insects
When it speaks in breaths
It sighs in silence

Often a moan will come pouring out,
It's mouth wide open
The guttural sighs of wind blowing by
People have never been shown them

Never a scream, never a tree
Breaking and falling down
It silently sits and ponders a bit
Of how it will make a sound

Many years have passed
But alas, but alas
The cave is beginning to close, and
Now it's mouth is full

Miners in hard hats will feel deaths
Smack as the rocks fall
The tunnel is closed and forever a rose
Will sew it's jagged lips shut

I absolutely love your use of personification here when describing the cave. I also found the last stanza incredibly powerful. This is a great poem and I can't wait to read more from you!

You are welcome :-)
Another enjoyable piece here, Alexx.. Lot's of imagery and metaphorical verses. I love how in the very first stanza you give life to the "cave"! It really sets the poem up for nice flow.

Great job!
