From A Family of Strong Imagination

I shall call myself William Wilson
Too ashamed to tell you my name
No longer enjoy love and honour
But I do live in worldwide fame

I shall not describe my early years
Filled with misery and crime
All goodness seemed to drop of me
Leaving slowly along the time

Yes, something softened my spirit:
Shadow of Death is over me
I need pity of my fellowmen
Most of all; I need sympathy...

My family produced those men;
Of a strong imagination
Often know with a violent temper
And love for good education

Fiveteen when I experienced
Warnings of my terrible fate
A boy competed with me in class
The namesake made me drown in hate

Secretly I felt that I feared him
My endless struggle to be best
It was the start of my unknown fate
Not wanting to be very last

He really looked a lot like me
He could speak with my own voice
After I finally killed him
I heard a whispering noise:

How surely you have murdered yourself.
