WATCHING from ABOVE

WATCHING from ABOVE

A Poem by Alla Antsis
"

We all pay the price

"

Watching from above, the world looks small

But the pain and the suffering, can be felt by all

In Ukraine and beyond, wars rage on

And innocent lives are forever gone

Stop the senseless violence and bloodshed

This war has left too many dead

The cost of war, we cannot measure

A world in chaos, that we cannot treasure

This war's reach has gone too far

Beyond two nations, a global scar

All nations must make a choice

To listen to reason or drown in noise

Watching from above, I see a better tomorrow

If we hold on to hope, and banish all sorrow.

We need visionaries, not just leaders

Who can stop this war, be peace-seekers

Your poem was posted in March, 2023.. had been active long before. There has been so much death and destruction and yet still echoes throughout Ukraine like a demented war cry. We need to support everything aimed to help. Encourage, beg, the power to be to find an answer that doesn't involve the lives of those fighting because a certain clutch of people aim to demolish what they think is their right. History belong to the path but is not Infinity's right to continue til rivers run red

Your poem is such a courageous call, you've aired the same before. People, readers, reviewers can join groups and do anything to help.. even to send a toothbrush across the miles. Even that is a desperately needed essential.

'Watching from above, the world looks small
But the pain and the suffering, can be felt by all
In Ukraine and beyond, wars rage on
And innocent lives are forever gone'

Thank you, thank you for speaking out, dear Alla Antsis.

You are most welcome!
Thank you for this beautifully written poem filled with such compassion. It's time to put a stop to war. It's so uncivilized and unproductive. It belongs in the dark ages. Can't believe man is doing this to his fellow men in the 21st century!

Thank you for your review and support, Red
Now that I've looked more closely at your profile I see the connection between you and your subject. In my 20 years of construction I've known many people from Ukraine. Some of the most welcoming and hard working guys I've known. And lunch in their trailer!!! Always a big thing with all kinds of goodies. There must be a lot of wood in Ukraine. They were always my flooring, siding and cabinetry contractors. It hurts to think of all the destruction of beautiful buildings during this war. Or any war for that matter. Not to mention lives. Spaceba to the brave who will keep Ukraine alive!!

We are all paying a price, but none as much as the people of Ukraine. We all want peace but not at any cost. We do need visionaries. You convey the situation in your stanzas well. Pleased to have stopped by today.

hope springs eternal. they say that putin has committed a war crime by abducting children. there should be a rule of war that those who wage it must personally fight. he is sick, disillusioned and needs to be removed from power. deep down it is probably himself that he hates.. :)

Would it were that innocents were not cannon fodder for so-called political leaders. Unless and until those "leaders" have to risk their own lives/limbs, this will be a continual perpetuation. Unfortunately, this is a never-ending battle between good and evil, and we all know whose domain this world belongs to, temporarily.

Thank you for your feedback Linda! How true! "never-ending" is the word.
We do need peace seekers and in my opinion, this war could have ended as quickly as it started if our government and other governments hadn't been such cowards. That is only my opinion but this kind of murder...this kind of hate...this kind of assault on innocent human life should not be tolerated by a civilized world. Biden could have stopped this, Macron could have stopped this, Trudeau could have stopped this if they had wanted to but they didn't. They were afraid of ....get ready...losing votes for some reason. Human life is not as important as votes. It is sad, very sad.

Yes, Will - exactly you nailed it! Thank you for your feedback!
Alla,

You have, once again as three times is a triple charm, set to pen of page a fine piece of Poetry that screams to the skies above a most urgent message of Human suffering taking place around this world, especially in Ukraine, that is a disgrace that flies in the face of sanity's reason, for is there any justifiable reason for War in a world that speaks endlessly and all too readily of peace as each of the major world powers work to carve themselves a piece of those tinier, weaker, and less fortunate victimized nations wherein War is being waged, cities and communities razed with the skies filled with the smoke of homes and businesses that exist no more with streets filling with those evicted by the explosions and the flames unleashed by those aloof onlookers' Warmongers with no names other than Tragedy Disaster, Suffering, Bloodshed, & Death ...
