                        Burnt Bottom Cookies

Sitting ‘round the breakfast bar

four women fresh from lunch.

I bound upstairs from afar

thoughts of what I’d munch.

Sure I thought, a peach or pear

perhaps a tangerine…

           

I said to all those in a row,

I’m starved beyond repair.

 

That pang I feel within my gut

is not my missing hair.

I want, I need, I have a hunch.

can’t anybody share?

 

Some burnt bottom cookies

the  girls exclaimed!!!

Chocolate chip or oatmeal,

the choice is surely yours.

 

Now, I like muffin tops

and love pistachios

any kind of fruit or wine

and always chocolate.

 

But burnt bottom cookies?

mmmm!! So tasty and devine.                      

Helped launch me into orbit,

and made my day so fine...

If you love burnt bottom cookies...just wait till you try the unburnt version! But maybe those ladies won't share the unburnt ones with you? You might have to bake your own. Actually, I think I'd take cookies anyway I could get them - especially if they had chocolate in them!
