Child of the Sun

Child of the Sun

A Poem by Allyson Wolfe

Child of the sun,

you gallop over clouds white as snow in a chariot of burning gold,

drawn by horses, hooves flaming red with heat

and billowing manes of amber light.

Child of the sun,

you journey too close to the stars.

To be so close to the gods is madness,

their silver shadows too much for mortal eyes to bare.

Child of the sun,

you've failed us in your attempts.
