Consequences

Consequences

A Poem by Allyson Wolfe

This thing I’ve done,

Well… Let me tell you about it first.

It started as a way to converse

Intelligently.

So many things could run through our minds.

There was so much time,

And it was mine.

A few times a month,

Just to have some fun.

I didn’t think it was much.

Let’s be honest,

Who hasn’t tried it?

Then I got hooked.

I saw the way it made me look,

But I couldn’t stop.

I needed the knowledge.

I mean, hey it’s college.

Well it was school

Once upon a time ago.

Then came the day when I didn’t even show.

I stayed in the room,

Nothing but smoke.

It surrounded me.

Look at me now,

What I’ve become.

I can’t hide from myself,

There’s no way to run.

But what have I done?

All for some fun?

Lights out now, it’s over,

There goes the sun.
