A poem written for a friend

Standing by your side
Invisible to others
Visible to you
Tears you cry hurt like knives
But they don't see
They don't care

To see a person in pain
Is to feel a twinge of guilt
To see a friend in pain
Is to have your heart ripped out

No one can see
The damage they do
But for those affected
They are blinded
Deafened

For now I stand by your side
Watching you
Helping you
They still don't see
They still don't care
But there are those who do
Standing beside you.
