Unsung

Unsung

A Poem by Ami Kismet
"

written 5.6.10 in the midst of a very confusing and dark time in my life.

"

I am broken
cracked like brittle bones.

My wings are skewed, twisted,
and clutched to my chest.

Bloody feathers stained

with words, dripping into puddles,

at my feet, drifting in concentric

circles. Unread.

Unsung.

These words I’ve bled

But never said,

Caught in my teeth

Like ribbons, bits of flesh.

Lost, glittering, at my feet,

pumping to the rhythm of my

breath.

Words I can’t say

With a broken tongue, bitten

In half to keep this silence

Unsung
