Magic Mushroom

Magic Mushroom

A Poem by The Flawed

It’s an inhuman world,
“I DON’T WANT TO DIE”
The planet earth is about to explode.
Is this the way we chose  to live?
Is this the way it’s meant to be?
Is it the system, or is it we?
Well who made the system, but you and me?

Is the lord as fair as they make him out to be?
If he can show us the way, then why won't he?
We spend all our lives running around in circles,
Looking for more money and love,
What happens at the end?
We just drop and die.

Somehow it doesn’t seem neat,
In fact, it’s incomplete,
Why couldn’t there be more in it?
Why couldn’t life be a treat?

Everything is automatic,
You press the button change the channel,
Sit yourself down, watch the panel,
You sit for month and month to program a game,
That’s going to beat you again and again anyway.
You pull the trigger and the guy is dead,
And if someone tries to make it the easy way,
They sit him on an electric chair,

Somehow it doesn’t seem neat,
In fact it’s incomplete,
Why couldn’t there be more in it?
Why couldn’t life be a treat?

I’ll tell you what’s going to happen, and it’s coming soon,
One night when the stars are shining, and there’s a full moon,
Some clowns hiding behind their flag in an underground room,
Press a button, and BANG there’s a mushroom.

Somehow it doesn’t seem neat,
In fact it’s incomplete,
Everything will go in a flash,
Even the war pigs
“I DON’T WANT TO DIE”

' One night when the stars are shining, and there's a full moon, ~ Some clowns hiding behind their flag in an underground room, ~ Press a button, and BANG there's a mushroom.' Those incredible words say it all .. that's been the fear hanging over Man's collective head for years.

Your poem is skillfully written with a message to anyone and everywhere who reads it. And, yes, we made the system or indeed, perpetuated and still perpetuate it. Pathetic us, indifferent us.

Thank you for sharing this very thought-provoking post. I'll point the way here to some of my friends.

EXCELLENT!! And I don't use exclamation marks often. Completely agree with you. Very inspiring as well, I've had this idea for some time now and after reading this, feeling the itch to get it on paper.

I liked the subtle aggressiveness, controlled anger, and as one keeps reading the pace of the rhythm gets a little faster and compels to read the rest. Nice job.

OK that was not the magic mushroom I was expecting, hehe maybe that says more about me! Passionate writing. We are a destructive race and will self destruct one way or another, sad but true. There is still beauty in life however. Good strong piece.

Somehow the media has a way of instilling fear in us. Fear can freeze us or help us fight against it. I see you wanna fight in the case of the perceive inevitable, no matter what..conquering fear is the way to live....don't accept death without fighting for life.

i love the twistiness of this.. all things we ponder late at night when we can't sleep and the news is just horrendous..

you use so many powerful images here - and your very real everyday language makes it even more powerful.. makes it even more real

kudos my friend!

"Is the Lord is as fair as they make Him out to be?..."
He is, my friend. Fairness after all means full disclosure of the Rules in advance of the Game,
and the treatment of all Players equally, based upon their adherance to those Rules.
What could be fairer than that?
"If He can show us the way, then why won't He?..."
But He HAS, many times over! We're just too much in love with our flesh to accept
any solution that involves giving anything up!
"Why couldn't life be a treat?..."
Life WILL be a treat, once we have graduated from this earthly pupal...or if you prefer, PUPIL state.
It is here that we learn the real and true lessons of what Life actually IS, that it is NOT about the
gratification of the Transient, but rather preparation for the Lasting.

You have spoken truly when you conclude that at some future time, when no one is expecting it, the Game will end. But it will NOT involve a button, OR a Mushroom. Might be an apt time to crawl out from behind whatever YOU'RE hiding behind, out of YOUR little underground room, and read them Rules, my friend! When the Decisions are cast, there will be no Instant Replays, no appeals...

For starters I don't believe we have the right to blame God for what man has done. He gave man the right to chose what was right and what was wrong and look where that has gotten us. The Bible does say that man would destroy him ownself if God did not interven. We are foolish people and we're like the blind leading the blind.
You have written a very good piece with the exception of thinking of God as being unfair. The Bible says that he causes the rain to fail on the just and the unjust alike. He is a fair God as he offers us alll the same deal. It is up to us whether or not to accept his gift of love. Forgiveness of our sins bought through the blood or (death) of his only son Jesus. How can we say he is unfair when he has given us the greatest gift anyone could ever give us The gift of life.

Other than that part I agree. Man may very well in his foolishness try and blow the world up.

Wow this is a controversial piece.. so many pondering so many of your lines .. The button theory.. well that would probably be the most human way to go.. it would be over pretty fast wouldn't it??? But then the button pusher knows it's the end of all their dreams and present and future family as well.. I believe that the "button" is more of a monopoly piece.. that unknown fear used for weight from one country to another.. our fears magnify as we think of the button falling into the arms of the wrong country.. when which country is right to have such a power? Also will we keep destroying the earth or make amends.. try to turn it around.. certainly seems to most like if money is involved.. that maybe it will just continue the way it is and always has been! Automation.. intelligence has developed to the point where there are certainly more people than jobs.. who needs to read, write or calculate anymore.. computers do it all.. man just pushes a button or two in most factories.. those factories headed to the cheapest and most effecient countries.. we can go back to simple and smaller.. but will they??? This one will make some think.. I still have to believe that change can happen.. if I die a fool.. no one will be around to talk about it to say I was wrong.. just a optimistic view I guess... lol.. from a very realistic fear to many. We all live and die.. to fear something that is inevitable.. is just a waste of the last of days you could be enjoying.. I will die persuing all my dreams in some way or another! I do respect the views and share some fear as well.. I just don't think about this too much! Thank you for sharing! =)
