Black Coffee, Red Moon

Black Coffee, Red Moon

A Poem by The Flawed

The stars are sleeping,
Or they may be hiding, behind the dark moody clouds
The moon is blood red,
Like the whites of your eyes
Your tears have dried up,
Your hope has packed his bags and ran away to hide
So she is gone, and took your best friend and your home and your ride

The time is now, the moments here
To shake the dust off and cut free
No need to shout, no need to scream
Some times when you lose, you really win

With a little time and a lot of pain,
You’ll beat the clouds and stop the rain
The stars are shining, the moon is bright,
Like the whites of your eyes
It’s time to wake up, and smell the java
To shake the dust off and move on
You did your best, and that’s no sin
Some times when you lose you really win

Fine words to explain the past moving into the future with a clean slate .. ' With a little time and a lot of pain, You'll beat the clouds and stop the rain ' learning by sad experience .. move on.

There's a moral to this and that's much appreciated.

This piece holds the mantra of my life. We have pain, stumble, bruise ourselves along the way. Like you so eloquently stated.. Pick yourself up, dust off that not-needed debris, and proceed to steppin'.. Nicely done!!

Like the last line especially ... all is never what it seems on the surface right? There is a great feeling of calm exhaustion after some emotional storm in this.

Absolutely wonderful. I liked how you went from negative to positive. You expressed the feelings well in this. Nicely done. Loved it.

The positive ending took me by surprise. I like surprises. The flow stumbled a bit, in the first stanza. But the stumble seems symbolic of the painful experience described, therefore necessary. Altogether, a well thought out and very well executed write here. Well done!
