Out Of My Grasp

Out Of My Grasp

A Poem by Ammietia

You've gone,

Slipped through my fingers

Like gold you shone,

Like water you flowed away.

And now I'm at a loss.

A dark road ahead

Cross roads passed long ago.

I question my chances,

and know I no longer have them.

I let you go

I couldn't get you to stay.

You bird, a chickadee,

Hopping just out of my grasp.

Singing your little tune.

chicka-dee dee dee.

But I hoped.

I waited.

I inched closer and closer.

And just as I was about to stroke

the beautiful and soft feathers of your features,

I was torn back wards

And you never glanced my way.

Winter is coming,

Autumn has thrown my hopes

into the icy snow.

The new season has taken hold

And I know I might never see you again.
