Stay

Stay

A Poem by Riley Mistwood

Stay and wait through the rain
The cold chill entering my veins

Longing for days of summer sun
The days when you and I were one

I sit here now my head bowed down, my eyes shut tight
as I listen to the haunting night

A black bird comes to perch beside
my corpse which once was so alive
 and full of love
and full of laughter

has now slipped into the ever after

the night retreating ever faster, faster, faster.

This poem leaves you pondering as to what awaits the fading night. Is there hope or will it reveal what you already know? Great read.

I really like that last line! It's so... hopeful. :) I mean if "the night" is retreating then that's a good thing, right? :) Such a nice, sad little poem. I wonder, if I'm forced to try and think of something to cheer you up how difficult might that be?
