The Words You Gave

The Words You Gave

A Chapter by Ana Papaya
"

About a boy, and his words. From the journal of Papaya.

"

~~~
I have them still…
all the words that you gave me
you know the ones
those ones that inflated my heart
          into a big red balloon
   your words the helium
          that made it soar
I have those words
       and have even more
I have those words
               that took my heart
like a kite
that gave me the wind
              to rise to new heights
I have all those words
  and I have even more
words that made a good girl
want
 to climb into your bed
  to be your w***e
I have all those words
   all those words I adore
     the love and the lust
     and I have even more
I have them all…
all the words that you gave me
             the ones that left a sting
      the words that cut deep
words that made me think
      that I was no better
than a mouse in a trap
        and that you were the devil
holding a knife in my back
I have all those words
that you used to attack
    to stab and to stab
'til my light
         turned to black
I have all those words
      I have them all still
I have all those words
and the poison they spilled
I have them all still...
      all those words in my heart
the whispered caresses
          that tore me apart
I’ve locked them away
 with the rest of my pain
   to pull out once in a while
     and remember again
  that I was the girl
        who fell for each word
and that you are the boy
 who is no longer heard
All of it... the rhyme, word placement, rhythm, the font, the feelings expressed, the sing song motion of its infer and the sweet rawness of your emotions! i could go on and on, it is delicious writing:) I feel bad for that poor sop in the end what a treasure he lost! okay i admit i really still like the bug poem too but for different reasons:) this is wonderful, Papaya
You know Ana, it is difficult for me to be serious but I wonder how much pain it takes before realization finally makes its mark
There. Did it. Kinda.
I wish I had the words though. I won't even bother trying, they'd just sully it by accident.
This is one of the best heartbreak poems I've ever read becuz it doesn't get into blame or self-pity. You simply report the way it went down without much editorializing, you just let your story speak for itself. To me, this is the best way to write -- just let the story tell itself. Let the audience go whichever way it is moved. The most realistic aspect is how your storytelling glides effortlessly from adoring to realizing this situation isn't about adoring. This is how the realizations of life slowly sink in & creep past our denial (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
Thanks Margie, you always seem to "get me".
I appreciate the comment on this one!
Such hurt mixed with vitriol, such lasting pain as a reminder of the let down the character left upon the protagonist. Spoken in a descriptive with use of repetition as if emphasising the hurt and distress. Flowing invective poetry.
The power and the strength of words that can lift and elevate us, or crash and crush us to the ground, perfectly executed here, by some of the words that make you who you are. You capture the emotion of words here superbly, and all the joy, pain and everything in between that they bring into our lives.
you're welcome.
The cold is unfair and misunderstood. In the short term it seems pretty fuggin awful...
Things play out though; and more often than not they don't end the way they start. People turn out to be who you'd never expect.
Cold and unfair until it's not.
Some are less lucky.
