mess of colour

A Chapter by Ana Papaya

~

i'll be the beautiful mess
smeared with hate the colour of mascara smeared, washed away
with a lick of salt, let you have your way
paved in fear the colour
of polished nails, red
carving a path across your back
that fades into something black
short as the skirt
that lies tossed there in the dirt
next to a beautiful mess
of colour

I think you're dead on, with the color of fear and hate.
They're definitely Maybelline shades.
And that the only explicit touching that occurs is on the made up parts... That's seven levels of profound. Whether you intended it or not.
Maybe even moreso if not.

Moreso then I guess because this was just a spill of feelings, thoughts. :) Thanks much!

A fine poet indeed! Lots of heart here...lots of you here, it connects all the senses. I can't really explain what I mean by that but that's exactly what I want to say. R x

No I am not.
Ana, this is so amazing, the phrase "beautiful mess of colour" is itself a beautiful line and kind of both beautiful and sad in some way... You wrote it breathlessly stunning... It feels a gorgeous heart has been neglected and left in the dirt without truly realizing it's amazing inside beauty... A very thoughtful write Ana...

That's just damn fine writing.

I read it, basically, as one long sentence. It flowed without effort.

Damn fine work

Seems to be a very personal piece. Lots of metaphors that are handled well. I have to chew on this a bit. Interesting.
