keep them real close
  and one day
           you’ll know

when it’s time to open up
and just let them go

Reminds me of the glasshouse in Glasgows botanical gardens, where you can walk through the place and be guarenteed of the flutterbys landing on you to say hello.
I always did wonder what it was that kept them from escaping, but maybe they just had everything they needed there and were happy with so many people coming to see them.
Although I am perhaps looking too much between lines, the thought of Mommy Ana keeping her little flutterbys safe, whilst giving them their freedom too is a thought behind those words too.
So softly spoken and without a word of waste, as well as so true and beautifully stated.

Very gentle. Almost feels Haiku-ish (Haiku-esqe? Haiku-y? lol)

Feels like a metaphor for love, maybe even parental love.

I don't know. I believe, never cage a butterfly. Nice use of words. You made the reader think and ponder. Thank you Ana for sharing the amazing poetry.
