~

i’m tripping

over strands of grey

evidence of stolen vibrancy

colours, bled from me

and i can cut it all away

spare your eyes from my pain

but this is me

the sweetest part of everything dark

acquired taste, like black licorice

swirling on your tongue

when i come

Bullseye, again. That's 2 out of 2 today, and it isn't even lunchtime yet.
I'm gonna definitely think of you next time I buy licorice.
What? Okay, I admit it.... I only eat red licorice. How did you know? 😜

Yeah, I like the red stuff too but that's probably a much different poem. :) Thanks again Lorry!

You are welcome Ana.
They say black licorice is like scotch as far as learning to acquire the taste. I love scotch, but not so much the licorice. Maybe it's where I'm from. But I do know all about regret and missed opportunity. I have slapped my own forehead when what I was looking for was right in front of me and you have expressed that bitingly.

Truthfully, I'm not a big fan of either. Black licorice and Scotch. Thanks for the great comment C.. read more
