The Deer

The Deer

A Chapter by Ana Papaya

~

I am the deer
I am hunted
I fear

I run
with leaps of faith
I hide, I scurry
I stand with grace
nature threatens to kill me
and promises to keep me safe

I am the deer
I am hunted
I find my way
I navigate

I play
I fear
I fight

because there is nothing
more precious on earth
than life

amazing allegory here. Humans are much the same way...earth, society, life...precarious...
it can save us or kill us...we navigate, we run, we play, we fight.
But the bottom line is in your last three lines..."nothing more precious on earth than life."

I do agree dear Ana.

Most people learn too late. To awake with the sun rising, a new day. One more day to do something wonderful and good. Life. We must live, know laughter and have good people near. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

:)
Graceful, beautiful, vulnerable, and powerful all at once.
Truly majestic beasts.
... And they like fermented apples.
It gets them drunk.

truly true :)
Ana: nice comment on our society regarding hunting
basically killing our environment, instead pf preserving life; everyone, humans as well have to fight to conserve our own lives as there are cults out there who want to destroy our values and our lives. I like the way you used animals as metaphors for humans Nice write Ana.

Hi Betty, thank you for appreciating my poem.
Reading this I marvelled how cruel yet how nurturing life can be. A mother and a murderer at the same time. A very inspiring poem Ms. Ana. Loved it!

You're most welcome :)
when I look out the window and see sunlight filtering through healthy green leaves, lightly tickled by the gentlest of breeze, flowers, birds, and even the wee shrew scurrying across the path after the remains of the birdseed, I'd have to say I agree.

I've been spending a lot of time immersed in nature. So much beauty. Thanks Dave. :)

Gee
This reads as though you live your life "skittish" which, let me tell you I refuse to believe. You come across as strong, loving, defiant, but also somewhat betrayed.
I would give you a big old hug if my arms were long enough and also a comforting, fatherly :)) peck on the forehead.
Hope you are keeping well.

Thank you, Gee. You're very kind. :)
nature threatens to kill me
and promises to keep me safe
Oh! the contradictory nature of nature sometimes bemuses me. Because one time I feel like it comes as a rescuer to let you breathe fresh air, and one time I feel like it comes in the form of calamity to kill you. But there is nothing to do other than finding your way to live like the way you want. There will be struggles but these can make you grow stronger.
Love how you portrayed.

Hi moog, thanks so much!
It's those leaps of faith that get us every time. No matter how we sneaak and scurry, there is always a chance the hunter is sneaking and scurrying behind us, waiting for that moment to spring their trap.
But we do, because as you said, it is 😀
