it's luck, either way

it's luck, either way

luck
it's a fork in the road

not knowing which way to go
but going anyway

the difference between a rocky road
or a smooth sail
your appreciation for every bump in your path
or when you're carried by a wave

doing things the hard way
or when you're given a break
it's luck all the same

because no one starts out rich
experience is gained

luck isn't not always made
the road isn't always paved

but i travel it anyway

Gee
Right place right time, who you know not what you know.
Me, being the master blagger, met by chance a carpentry contractor whilst labouring on site and ended up (9 months later)as a contracts manager for his company, the job that I am still doing 20 years later.
Life is indeed lived with lady luck often determining our fate,
well I think so.
Good morning Ana, hope all is well in the good ol' USA.....joking, Canada :))

yeah! we're just plumb out of luck trying to avoid our roads ;) V6 L1 .. do you meant to say "....isn't not..."?
I like how you deal with either choice and that both are part of one and the same ... its just life ... I take the "riches" you speak of are the fruits of taking the bumps along the way in stride .. they teach us so much more than the smooth and easy! thanks for sharing Ana!

dear Ana... reading your poem again...
I realize that we do travel a rocky road;
however, there is the Sea where there can be
smooth sailing if only we believe. There is Peace
in accepting life as it flows... gently, Pat

I agree dear Ana.
"luck isn't not always made
the road isn't always paved
but i travel it anyway"
I have liked the unknown road. Always something to find, to see. I agree, we make our own bed. Luck or not? Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry ands your thoughts.

Love this. I agree that everything that happens is luck/blessings. Even my worst life experiences have gifted me with something amazing that I didn't have before. I think our trouble is too much judging of life's experiences. It is what it is! And you've made that point, gently stated without preaching about it (which I love). Hoping your holidays are healthy & bright & full of love! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

luck is kind of like fantasy, it's fun to think about and imagine while we choose the paved or unpaved road... do I turn right, left or continue on... where they are similar is that we many times do not know the outcome until the very end of the adventure... and the outcome is not always what we thought we would end up with or at.... that dirt road led you to a secret meadow filled with butterflies and unicorns.... now that would be luck!!!

That would be very lucky indeed!!!
No, the road is not always paved, but as long as we are confident and independent, we manage to get to where we need to be on it. Sometimes you have to make your own luck. Madame Fate does have a lot to do with it, but sometimes we can trick her! :) Lydi**

I like the way you think! :)
Yaaaaaay!
Unpaved roads are the most fun to travel.
They're much more scenic, and peaceful, and that's where you find the strangest company.
(Jealous city boy here)

I really identify with this in likely completely unintended ways lol
I have... TERRIBLE luck.
So I've developed a genuine appreciation for doing things the hard way.

Another awesome and deftly assembled string of words.
Not even the one I meant to click on, but I'm super glad I did.

Hard work usually determines the amount of "luck" a person comes across over time. Usually.

That's very kind. Thank you.
dearest Ana... there was only one “Yellow Brick Road.. and it had it’s challenges. Your poem covers the possibilities of making a decision at a Crossroads in life. Our instincts usually see us through. Life can be Bitter/Sweet at best. truly, Pat
