Paparazz-e-conomy

Paparazz-e-conomy

A Poem by AnastasiaBetts
"

Because of our work with sonnets lately, I've been practicing by writing iambic pentameter for everything, including this poem.

"
Just like the wild beasts upon the plain
That fed and nourished tribes of yesterday
So too we feed the endless appetite
The public has for gossip, hungry and
Insatiable, so willing to believe
The most ridiculous, obscene, insane
Blather, as long as it comes with a pic.

Take aim and shoot your telephoto spears
Directly at my individual rights
Go sell your spoils to the highest bid
For what am I? A check to pay your bills,
A water cooler topic, "Did you see
That pic just out from TMZ?"
Object of ridicule -- s'make you feel cool
To talk of me as just a thing?

You call it, "just the public's right to know."
I call it, "paparazzi-E-conomy."

Again... This was practice with iambic pentameter. Paparazzi are ruthless, and it's a shame that they can't remember that their subjects are human beings.

I think your wording is lovely and I loved how it smooth each line connects to the other. The topic you chose was something for many to think about as well, since it is the reality of the world.

Great piece!
